Tesla doesn't officially recommend specific aftermarket products, but Tesla owner communities (TeslaMotorsClub forum, r/TeslaModel3, r/TeslaModelY, r/Cybertruck) widely acknowledge Tesla paint is softer than comparable-tier German or Japanese paint. Among Tesla owners, PPF and ceramic coating are standard protection, usually added within the first 30 days of delivery.
When should I get my Tesla protected: right at delivery or after break-in?
Right at delivery. Tesla paint can take light chips within the first 500 miles on Charleston-area highways. We recommend scheduling the install within the first 1–2 weeks of ownership, after you've had time to inspect the car and file any delivery-defect claims with Tesla. Will tint affect my Tesla's range?

Our software plots the windshield film with a proper cutout for the camera housing before we cut anything, so the film is sized to skip the camera area. Done right, zero FSD / Autopilot interference. Windshield protection film (WPF) is a clear, impact-resistant film, similar to PPF but engineered for glass, that absorbs rock-chip impact so your windshield doesn't. We recommend it on every Tesla for two reasons: (1) Teslas sit lower to the ground than most vehicles, so rocks kicked up by cars ahead strike the windshield at a worse angle, and (2) Tesla windshields are large and expensive to replace: $1,500–$3,000+ on Model 3/Y, significantly more on Model X and Cybertruck. A WPF install at quote-time pricing usually pays for itself after the first chip you don't have to insurance-claim.
Can you protect a Cybertruck?
Yes. Cybertruck protection is a different strategy because the body is stainless steel, not painted metal. How long does a Tesla protection install take?
It depends on what goes on the car. Ceramic window tint alone is usually done the same day. Paint correction, ceramic coating, and Full Front PPF together typically take 3 to 8 days, and Full Body PPF runs 1.5 to 2 weeks. We keep the car in our climate-controlled bay the entire time. What warranty comes with Tesla PPF, ceramic coating, and tint?
Each component carries its own manufacturer warranty: PPF 10 years (VIN-registered), ceramic coating 3–9 years depending on tier, tint lifetime. Of the three, only the ceramic coating warranty transfers to a second owner; PPF and tint cover you as the original owner. The resale argument is really about condition rather than paperwork: Tesla buyers pay more for a car with unchipped factory paint and an uncracked interior, and CARFAX / CarMax / private buyers all factor that in.
How much does Tesla PPF, ceramic coating, and tint cost?

Not typically as a direct claim, but PPF and ceramic coating do affect insurance in two ways: some insurers offer diminishing-value protection riders for higher-end Teslas (Model S / X) that factor in protective coatings, and if a rock-chip event damages only the PPF, the PPF is replaceable without a paint claim. Talk to your insurer, especially if you're insuring a Plaid or Cybertruck.
