Paint Correction for Charleston, SC Drivers
Charleston's salt air, harbor humidity, and ten months of UV haze, swirl, and water-spot clear coat faster than almost any market in the South. Paint correction levels those defects back to a mirror — and it's the mandatory first step before any ceramic coating or PPF we install.
What we see specifically on Charleston vehicles.
Peninsula and West Ashley cars almost never see a garage, so hand-wash swirls, bird-dropping etch, and salt-spot rings stack up year over year. Automatic washes on Savannah Highway and Folly Road grind fine scratches that dull the finish under direct sun. We measure every panel with a digital paint-depth gauge before we compound — Charleston has a lot of repainted panels from fender-benders and salt corrosion, and those thin spots are where careless shops burn through. We correct under swirl-finder lights, so what you see at pickup is what a show judge would see in a car-show lane.
The right tier for the way Charleston drivers actually drive.
Most Charleston daily drivers do great on a 1-Stage enhancement — 60%+ of the swirls gone and the gloss back. Salt-etched or oxidized paint, common on uncoated Peninsula cars, usually needs the 2-Stage to pull 80–85% of defects. Black and dark-metallic show cars get the 3-Stage. Capping with ceramic or PPF? We require at least a 2-Stage so the finish you protect is worth protecting.

Recent work from across our service area.
“They did an amazing job with the tint removal/ replacement on my 2012 mustang. I highly recommend them for tint. I also highly recommend them for interior cleaning too. I had the interior of a 2005 town and country clean. It was used as a truck for the last 10-15 years and they got all of the stains out! I’m super happy with the result. They are super communicative if there is an issue and if the task will be longer than promised. 10/10 I will return with my other vehicles.”
“I had a very wonderful experience with this company very family-oriented love the atmosphere plus his little doggy called Owen quite sweet recommend it over and over again did a beautiful job on my vehicle thank you goodbye”
“Great job tinting windows on my wife’s Audi and super friendly people. Highly recommend!”
What Charleston drivers ask before they book.
- Do I need paint correction before a ceramic coating in Charleston?
- Yes — at minimum a single-stage. A coating locks in whatever's on the paint, so coating over Charleston's typical swirl and salt-spotting seals those defects in for years. For our 7- and 9-year ceramic tiers we require a 2-stage correction first. Correcting, then coating, is the only way the finish you pay to protect actually looks the part.
- Will salt-spot etching come out, or is it permanent?
- Most of it corrects. Salt and water-spot rings sitting in the clear coat polish out in a 1- or 2-stage; etching that has bitten through to the base coat can only be minimized. We inspect every panel under swirl-finder lights at drop-off and mark what fully removes versus what we can only improve — no surprises at pickup.
- How much does paint correction cost?
- Pricing depends on the tier and the paint's current condition — a new car with light swirls needs a fraction of the work an oxidized daily driver does. We quote every correction after inspecting the paint in person or from your photos, so the number you get is the number you pay. Request a quote and we'll have an estimate back the same day.
- How long does paint correction take?
- Plan on a day for an enhancement, two days for a 2-stage, and three days for a 3-stage Show Car correction. Timeline scales with vehicle size, paint condition, and how deep the defects run. We never rush a correction — the whole point is the finish you see at the end, and that doesn't happen on a 4-hour schedule. Drop off Monday morning, we'll text when it's ready.
- Do I need paint correction on a new car?
- Usually yes — at least a light enhancement. Factory paint leaves the plant with sanding marks, dealer-wash swirls, transit wax, and often rail dust or industrial fallout baked in. That stuff is what gets locked under a coating or PPF if you skip correction. A 1-stage enhancement on a new car removes 60%+ of those factory-level defects and gives you the proper starting surface for multi-year protection. If you're coating the car, it's not optional.
